On June 19, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the launch of Russia's most powerful gas-turbine power unit at Kazan Combiner Heat and Power Plant-3.

The new unit was built as part of the plant's comprehensive modernization. The gas-turbine unit was built based on the largest and most efficient gas turbine in the world (9HA.01), with a capacity of 405.6 MW, produced by the American General Electric Company ("General Electric").

Kazan Combiner Heat and Power Plant-3 is the second power plant in the world where gas-turbine unit with this type of turbine has been put into commercial operation.

Since the signing of the contract in April 2014 over three years have passed before the launch of the facility. As noted at the meeting, the capacity of Kazan Combiner Heat and Power Plant-3 after the modernization will almost double from 384.9 to 789.6 MW and the annual electricity output - from 1322 to 4,290 million kW/h.
