Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Economic Modernization and Innovative Development of Russia

18 July 2017, Tuesday

On July 18, in the afternoon, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to Nizhny Novgorod to take part in a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Economic Modernization and Innovative Development of Russia held by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The meeting focused on the implementation of projects of the National Technological Initiative in 2017-2020.

In his opening speech, Medvedev noted that in the coming decades, and perhaps even years, the structure of the world economy will radically change – not only new markets are emerging, but the fundamentals of the economy are changing. According to him, those who can move faster than competitors will make money, those who lag behind will remain on the sidelines.

"We are moving slowly at the moment. We need the national technological initiative in order not to catch up with leaders all the time, but to be leaders ourselves, that is, to develop technologies that will determine the direction of the development and dictate the technological fashion. It is not only the economy that is changing, the way of life is changing. I have just met with young people of different professions. All of them are united by interest in new technologies, which they try to use in their work. It is clear that it is impossible to cover all at the same time, but in some separate areas we need to make every effort, to combine the capabilities of our science, universities, industrial enterprises and achieve breakthrough results," Medvedev continued.

He emphasized that for two and a half years, that is, from the moment when the Russian President launched the scientific and technical initiative in his message, an organizational framework has been created.

The interdepartmental working group regularly functions in the presidium. Eleven working groups have been created in specific areas, seven “road maps” are being implemented.

Projects are in different stages of their implementation, their subjects are related to digital modeling, geo-information systems, unmanned equipment, and the neurointerface.
