Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the team on the victory noting that they had become winners of different competitions a few times.

On August 22, after visiting the Bolgar historical and archeological complex, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova and State Counsellor of the republic, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev got acquainted with the progress of reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

On August 22, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova and State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev visited the Bolgar historical and archaeological complex.

On August 22, speaking at a briefing at the regional Cabinet of Ministers, Aide to Tatarstan President Leila Fazleeva said that main events as part of the regional charity campaign “Help Get Ready for School” will be held from the 23rd to the 31st of August on the eve of the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan. As of today, 1,500 first graders and 1,000 pupils from the second to the eleventh grade have received schoolbags as a gift under the campaign.

On August 21, at a solemn ceremony of the presentation of the certificate of inscription of the Dormition Cathedral and Monastery of the island town of Sviyazhsk to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova announced the decision to award State Counsellor of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Board of trustees of the Revival Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev a title of UNESCO Special envoy for intercultural dialogue.

On August 21, speaking at a solemn event on the occasion of the inclusion of the Dormition Cathedral and the Monastery of the island-town of Sviyazhsk in the UNESCO World Heritage List, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said: “We are deeply aware of our responsibility to UNESCO for further preservation of the unique historical sites of Tatarstan.”
