Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan has potential to attract investors and tourists

Issues of cooperation in promoting Tatarstan Republic in the world arena and attracting potential investors have been discussed at a meeting of RT President Rustam Minnikhanov with Sales Vice-president of CNBC company on European, Middle East, and African countries Paul Maraviglia.
The meeting was held in RT Government House.
The event was attended by Director of CNBC company on Russia and CIS counties Evgeniya Rogozhina, Director of Department on external relations at RT President – Aide to RT President on international issues Iskander Muflikhanov, Head of Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov, Head of RT Agency for press and mass communications Marat Muratov.
Greeting guests Rustam Minnikhanov marked CNBC TV channel is known in Republic. “Tatarstan should be introduced to world community. We are actively working on attraction of investments from Russia and abroad, develop small and medium-size entrepreneurship, special economic zones, and put much emphasis on development of high-tech production”, he said.
According to Head of Republic now Tatarstan has gained experience of cooperation with world leading companies such as Daimler AG, Ford, Cummins, Case New Holland – CNH.
Presenting Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov highlighted the region is interesting in terms of tourism. A Muslim sacred place – Bolgar town and an architectural historical site - island town Sviyazhsk are located on the territory of Republic.
International sport events are to be held in Tatarstan in the nearest time - summer Universiade 2013, Championship in water sports 2015, matches of World football championship 2018.
“Tatarstan has potential to attract potential investors, tourists and fans. One of the key tasks today is to create a strategy of the region’s attractiveness”, Rustam Minnikhanov said. Moreover, CNBC audience may be interested in Tatarstan as of the economically developed regions, multi-ethnic and multi-confessional subject of the federation.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked CNBC officials for the visit saying that it is a good opportunity to form their own opinion about Republic and its capital – Kazan.
Paul Maraviglia briefly told about the history of CNBC company, development of the channel and broadcasting network. He informed CNBC is a part of NBC corporation. Broadcasting in Europe, Asia and America enables involving the audience of 380 mln people all over the world. Men holding leading positions in economic, political and business sectors make the key audience of the channel.
CNBC is engaged in covering economic forums in Davos and St.Petersburg.
Director of CNBC company on Russia and CIS counties Evgeniya Rogozhina informed a media campaign for attracting investors and drawing people’s attention to the region was developed for Tatarstan.
Rustam Minnikhanov informed currently Tatarstan is cooperating with CNN, BBC and EuroNews. “Now we are going to make some agreements with CNBC”, RT President summarized entrusting Investment Development Agency and RT Agency for press and mass communications with considering proposals of the company for detailed discussion of cooperation issues.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. We all remember with gratitude the outstanding philanthropists – the Akchurin brothers, the Alafuzovs, and the Ushkovs, whose good deeds and generous donations contributed to the development of culture, education, and healthcare in our republic. The glorious traditions are continued by modern philanthropists and patrons of Tatarstan.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
