Rustam Minnikhanov hands in jubilee medals marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the World War II to veterans

On February 21, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed in jubilee medals marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the World War II to veterans.

Minnikhanov congratulated the veterans on the upcoming holiday.

“On the Defender of the Fatherland Day we honour those who guard our multinational country, protecting it from external and inner threats. We remember the heroes, honour our fathers and grandfathers,” Minnikhanov noted. According to him, the Russian history knows a great deal of examples of devotional service to the motherland.

“The paid a high price for the victory. More than 700 thousand people went up the line from the republic. Almost half of them never returned. We - the heirs of the winners - will never forget those who defended our country against invaders, selflessly worked in hospitals, factories and plants. We will cherish this memory,” he said.

Tatarstan President expressed his appreciation and gratitude to veterans and wished them a long life, good health, prosperity and handed in jubilee medals marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the World War II.

Medals were awarded to more than fifty veterans. Among them are Hero of the Soviet Union, Boris Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Public Organization of War Veterans and Military Service of the republic Akhat Yulashev, Chairman of the Public Organization of the former juvenile prisoners of Nazi concentration camps of the republic Rakhilya Abdullina, Chairman of Kazan city public organization "Veterans of the Great Patriotic War - residents of besieged Leningrad" Antonina Rukhlova and others.
