On April 10, Russian Minister of Agriculture Nikolay Fedorov, Hungarian Minister of foreign economic affairs Péter Szijjártó, and Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in opening of Hungarian Consulate-General in Kazan.
Péter Szijjártó noted that Russia plays an important role in foreign political and economic strategy of Hungary, and his country is especially interested in establishing pragmatic relations and cooperation with Russia as one of the most important foreign economic and energy partners.
“Tatarstan is one of the most prospective regions in Russia and we want to enhance relations between Hungary and Tatarstan. Opening of Hungarian Consulate-General in Kazan is the beginning of this process,” Péter Szijjártó said.
“We expect not only a big number of Hungarian visas to be issued by our Consulate-General but a new stage of development of our economic, trade and cultural relations, especially as the competence of the Consulate applies to the whole Volga District,” Péter Szijjártó continued. He also stressed that the most prospective areas of cooperation are automotive industry, energy and pharmaceutics.
Nikolay Fedorov said that opening of Hungarian Consulate-General in Kazan is a very important event especially under current geopolitical situation.
Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan should be the place for Hungary to enter Russian markets.
Minnikhanov added that a new agreement between Tatarstan and Hungary will be signed during the session of Russia-Hungary intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation today.
On 4 November speaking in the beginning of a gala-concert of the Regional Ethnic and Cultural Festival “Out Home Tatarstan” held at the Tatarstan Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan, the Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated the audience with the National Unity Day and said that the history of citizens –in-arms, due to which the Time of Troubles was completed in Russia in the 17th century, is a bright example of what Russians can do by uniting for the sake of a common goal.
On November 4, at the Government House of the republic, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva held a meeting on the implementation of the state programme «Scientific and Technological Development of Tatarstan» and emphasized that the republic has always had a special attitude to higher education. «Kazan scientific school is known not only in Russia, but also outside of it», the Deputy Prime Minister said.
