Tatarstan Minister of education and science Albert Gilmutdinov informed about changes in structure of Single State Exam in mathematics at briefing in House of RT government. He told about various ideas on exam’s modernization, but still there is no reason to wait for great reforms.
“Single State Exam is rather far from ideal system of knowledge assessment. It needs to be improved. The ideology of exam should not be the only way of assessing pupil’s success. We have to move from one-sided evaluation to a portfolio scale when we can assess all activity of a child by results of his/her school life”, - Albert Gilmutdinov said. The structure and ideology of exam is not changing, we just correct some control and measurement materials; all tasks are placed in Internet in test mode. They are free and available for anyone, Albert Gilmutdinov added. He also informed that President of Russia set the task to define rules of holding Single State Exam by September, 1 so that everyone may get to know new features.
About 29% of teachers passing Single State Exam got less than 60 points in their main subjects. Thus, Albert Gilmutdinov stated the necessity to improve teachers’ professional skills in republic. Educational initiative “Our new school” approved at federal level is meant to favour this idea.
