Tatarstan President meets Akim of Astana Asset Issekeshev

On October 4, during an official visit of a delegation from Tatarstan to Astana, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Akim of Astana Asset Issekeshev.  

The main purpose of the trip is to attend the 13th Russia – Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum. 

Welcoming his guest in the capital of Kazakhstan, Asset Issekeshev noted that Tatarstan is one of the key partners of Astana. "Your republic is among the Russian innovative regions, demonstrating good results in oil and petrochemical industry, machine building, high technologies. We are interested in developming bilateral cooperation in a number of areas,” he said.

He continued that today the city is  preparing for the upcoming World Expo 2017 exhibition. According to Issekeshev, Tatarstan has extensive experience in hosting major international events, including  the 2013 Universiade and the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. "Next year Astana will host guests from more than 100 countries around the world, therefore your experience would be very useful for us," he addressed to Tatarstan President.

Akim said that about 10,000 Tatars live and work in the capital of Kazakhstan. "We are in touch with the Tatar community. There is also the Tartar Sunday School in the city,  a number of cultural events are held," Issekeshev said.

Minnikhanov thanked Akim of Astana for the hospitality extended to the delegation of Tatarstan and high level of organization of the visit.

"We have many areas for cooperation. Friendly relations of heads of our states contribute to the development of interregional cooperation. A number of our large companies, including KAMAZ Automaker, Tatneft Oil Company and other enterprises are collaborating with Kazakhstan," Minnikhanov concluded.
