To date, more than 40,000 tonnes of grain have been harvested in Tatarstan

5 August 2017, Saturday

On August 5, speaking at a video-conference held by Acting Tatarstan President Alexey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with the participation of all municipalities, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov reported on the beginning of the harvesting season in the republic.

The Minister reported that it was not possible to proceed with large-scale harvesting this week because of rains and semi-maturation of corns. To date, 43,100 tonnes of grain have been threshed as part of the harvesting campaign. Among the leaders are Zainskiy (more than 10,000 tonnes of grain), Nurlatsky (6,000 tonnes), and Aksubaevsky (3,200 tonnes) regions.

He stressed the need to prepare the soil to sow winter crops, and to continue fodder conservation together with the harvesting of grain crops. According to Akhmetov, many farms are in position to procure a 18-month and two-year supply of fodder.

The Minister reminded that the sowing of winter crops should start next week.
