On July 7 Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev and President of the International Fencing Federation Alisher Usmanov visited indoor manege of Kazan equestrian sports complex to see fencing competitions held within the 27th World Summer Universiade.
On July 7 at their meeting in Kazan President of the International Association of Athletics Federations IAAF Lamine Diack, President of Russian Track and Field Athletics Federation Valentin Balakhnichev, and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov discussed prospects of participation of Tatarstan athletes in the forthcoming World Championship in Athletics to be held in Moscow in August 2013.

On July 6 Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in official opening of the 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. A striking ceremony started from the procession of actors representing different Russian peoples. Then, spectators welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin and FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien. The state flag of the Russian Federation was carried along the arena and it was raised above the stadium.
